Furfura Sharif is a village in Jangipara community development block of Serampore sub-division in Hooghly district. It is a holy place for Muslims.

Lakhs of pilgrims visited the holy shrine to offer prayers and seek blessings on the occasion of Isale sawab Mehfil.

The Furfura Sharif pir zada, Toha Siddiqui, said, “Pilgrims from India and abroad visit the holy shrine, with much reverence they offer prayers and seek blessings, the message of love, communal harmony and brotherhood is sent out to the world. World peace is the need of the hour. Furfura Sharif is a holy place, hence one should not try to defame the holiness of Furfura Sharif with unwanted political issues.”

The mosque, which was built by Muqlish Khan in 1375, has become a holy place of pilgrimage for the Muslim community especially during the Pir’s mela attracting lakhs of pilgrims from far and near.

The most important place within Furfura Sharif is the Mazaar Sharif (tomb) of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique and his five sons, popularly known as the ‘Panch Huzur Keblah’. Thousands of people from all over India come to visit their tombs every year.

The Sufi saint Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique, who founded the order of Furfura Sharif was not only a religious preacher but also Mujadded-e-Zaman or social & religious reformer of the era. He was better known by this title.
