Swift joint operation by Indian Coast Guard(ICG) with Bangladesh Coast Guard(BCG) ensured safe return of 114 Indian fishing boats (IFBs) to Indian side through Haribhanga river at 15:30 p.m. yesterday.
An ICG spokesperson, Kolkata headquarters, informed that the boats reached Kakdwip fishing harbour on Sunday night.

Furthere, BCG, South Zone, reported sighting of another 32 IFBs stranded at Paira Port (70 nautical miles across IMBL).
The boats had taken shelter due to inclement weather conditions. Bangladesh Coast Guard had planned to guide them to Indian waters post improvement of weather conditions.
In the meantime, AD Fisheries, Diamond Harbour intimated that four IFBs namely Dashabhuja, Babaji, Joyjogiraj and Nayan, have capsized probably in Bangladesh waters. It was further reported that out of 61 crew onboard these four IFBs, 36 crew have been rescued by other IFBs in vicinity and 25 are still missing. Coast Guard Region (NE) has requested Bangladesh Coast Guard for search and rescue assistance.
