The Calcutta High Court today gave a go-ahead for the public meeting of RSS chief Mohan Bhagvat at a sports stadium beside Burdwan town.
Bhagvat, during his Bengal tour was scheduled to address the public meeting at the Sports Authority of India stadium on 16 February. The district police and administration had restrained the permission for the public meeting on the plea that use of loudspeakers were ‘banned’ during the ensuing Madhyamik examination. The dais for the meeting has been erected in the farthest northern corner of the stadium for the scheduled 50 minutes programme.

The SDM, Burdwan (North), Tirthankar Biswas said that the permission was detained on the ground of the use of loudspeakers in the proposed meeting that’s restrained by a previous HC order.
The RSS, challenging the district administration’s decision, had moved to the HC. Today, the HC judge, Amrita Sinha, in her order has given a go ahead of the programme and the order has specifically mentioned that the use of loudspeakers in the programme is allowed.
