The Kolkata unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau has seized a large quantity of hashish and ganja worth around Rs 16 lakh from West Bengal’s Howrah district and arrested two persons, a senior NCB official said on Tuesday.
“Twelve kg of hashish and 22.5 kg of ganja were seized from two persons at a bus stop in Howrah district’s Bagnan in the late hours on Monday. The cost of the total seized contraband is about Rs 16 lakh in the illegal market,” the bureau’s Kolkata unit head Dilip Kumar Srivastava said in a release.
“Two persons named Satya Pandit and S.K. Munna have been arrested for the illegal possession of the contraband. Primary investigation revealed that the source of the hashish is Nepal while the ganja was brought in from Odisha,” he said.
