The engineers of Kolkata Metro rail Corporation Limited (KMRCL) have completed the construction of coffer walls inside the tunnel to prevent water from flowing inside the tunnel. After the completion of the walls, water has been injected inside the dam to create counter-pressure and stop further inflow of aquifer water inside the tunnel.
The injection of water in the dam is said to have been completed last night and it has been left untouched for 24 hours to create a balance of the aquifer water and the injected water. The KMRCL engineers informed that the rate of subsidence has been brought down considerably to almost a negligible point while the continuous collapses and cracks are aftermath of the ground loss that occurred last week.
