Trinamul Congress chairperson Mamata Banerjee held a closed-door meeting with all the top party heavyweights from West Burdwan district and directed them to work together to ensure win for the party candidate Shatrughan Sinha in Asansol and also the party candidate in Durgapur-Burdwan Lok Sabha seat.
This was a very crucial meeting before the upcoming polls.

During her last meeting with the top party leadership from West Burdwan, she was briefed about the polarisation of the district leadership, while one group belongs to law, judiciary and labour minister Moloy Ghatak and the other belonged to his opposite camp.
The infighting could cost the two seats again in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. She had earlier appointed minister Aroop Biswas to look after the West Burdwan district.
The CM arrived at Andal airport last evening and went directly to Durgapur by road and stayed the night there before leaving for her district tours today.
Minister’s Moloy Ghatak, Pradip Majumdar, Indranil Sen, ADDA chairman, Tapas Banerjee, general secretary, V Sivadasan, AMC mayor, Bidhan Upadhyay, Jamuria MLA, Hareram Singh, district TMC president Narendra Nath Chakraborty, former MLA of Durgapur West, Biswanath Parial, INTTUC district President, Abhijit Ghatak, former MLA Ujjwal Chatterjee, ADDA vice-chairman, Kabi Dutta etc were present.
The CM has directed everybody to concentrate on their constituencies and ensure a TMC victory. She also warned leaders, who are keeping contact with the BJP saying that she is collecting information from the police on them.
Mamata Banerjee has given different responsibilities to different leaders and has told the law minister to concentrate on his Assembly constituency, Asansol North only.
The other leaders and MLA s will also look into the party affairs in non-MLA segments like in Kulti, Asansol South and Durgapur West besides looking after their own constituencies.
As the name of Shatrughan Sinha has already been announced, wall graffiti on his name has started throughout the seven Assembly segments.
