The ECI is believed to have instructed the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in the state to review the overall security situation in the state and keep a watch on the transfers of IPS officers after expiry of their three-year term at a particular position.
A source in the know claimed that transfers of IPS officers in various districts, in particular, formed the core of today’s discussions among others.
With highest-ever security deployment of around 920 companies in the state on the anvil as per the announcement of the poll panel, the CEO, Aariz Aftab today went into a huddle with all the DMs, CPs and SPs of the districts with the state ADG (law and order) and the CP, Kolkata Police.

A source in the know of the developments said that the meeting, which got underway at 10am deliberated mainly on sensitive booths, based on the reports submitted to it by the respective district officers concerned.
The source claimed that based on the reports of sensitive booths by district electoral officers, the fate of the quantum of security and deployment of central forces would be decided.
The source also claimed that the meeting also discussed a 19-point agenda on poll preparedness, among other things.
