Aiming to provide easy access to hearing dates and other details, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation has decided to make cause lists and hearing orders available on its website. As announced by the KMC mayor, Firhad Hakim, such details would soon be provided on the website of the civic body under the ‘Common Hearing programme. “Whatever hearings are done including those of the Building Department, Commissioner and Assessment would now be provided on the website.
At times there are claims from people that the date of hearing was not made known or the order was not received by them. To address such issues, these details would now be made available online, the way it is done in High Court. On the website, history, case numbers and other details like orders and dates would be available,’ said Mr Hakim. Meanwhile, the municipal corporation is mulling over plans to enhance its potable water supply in various pockets, particularly in the added areas.

According to the mayor, the civic body has spent Rs 700 crores on various initiatives of upgradation of water treatment system including changing of old pipelines, booster pumping stations and jacketing, Apart from this, at Maheshtala, a plant is to be commissioned in the month of February. The civic body has also carried out an intensive desilting of drains, clearing around 2000 MT in the process.
