Man kills wife, buries body at home
A man reportedly killed his wife after she objected to his drinking in Ausgram of East Burdwan.
Twenty-eight year-old Namita Kshetrapal, another housewife from Debipur in Memari Police Station area also was bitten by a venomous snake on her right leg at around 11.00 p.m.
Three persons fell victim to snakebite in different parts of Burdwan (East) since yesterday evening. All three were bitten by venomous snakes while asleep.
Fifty-six year old housewife Jayanti Das of Udgara village in Raina Police Station area was bitten by a krait while she was asleep last night. Her husband, Chayan Das, a grocer by profession, said: “My wife woke up with a scream and a krait was seen on her bed.” The family immediately rushed her to the Burdwan Medical College and Hospital where she succumbed in the morning today.

Twenty-eight year-old Namita Kshetrapal, another housewife from Debipur in Memari Police Station area also was bitten by a venomous snake on her right leg at around 11.00 p.m. minutes after she went to bed. She also was taken to the BMCH where she died within a couple of hours, the hospital sources said.

Subhas Soren (36) – a rice mill labourer from Ausa locality in Dewandighi Police Station area near Burdwan town was bitten by a snake while he was sleeping under a tree beside the mill last night after his duty ended. He also died shortly after being rushed to the hospital.
