Wild tusker tramples man to death at Kuttampuzha in Kerala’s Kothamangalam
A wild elephant trampled a 40-year-old man to death at Knachary in Kuttampuzha near Kothamangalam in Kerala’s Ernakulam district on Monday night.
A forest officials said such adolescent elephants get driven out of their herds by the lead tuskers
An adolescent male elephant separated from its herd strayed into Arambagh town and went on the rampage in municipal wards nos 4,5 ,6 ,18 and in parts of Goghat on Saturday and Sunday. Four persons were injured including one member of a forest department team involved in tracking the stray elephant.
The elephant herds usually keep their movements restricted within Gorbeta and Bankura forest area. A forest officials said such adolescent elephants get driven out of their herds by the lead tuskers.

The forest ranger team have been tracking and driving the elephant from Saturday morning. Today after much effort the elephant was tranquillized at Bulchandrapur, Daspara in east Burdwan district, lifted and carried away in a truck to be kept under observation and for a medical check up.

The villagers complained that the rampaging elephant has caused massive damage to potato crops.
