KMC proposal to heritage commission for gradation of buildings
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation is considering sending a proposal to the West Bengal Heritage Commission for revision in the formula of gradation of heritage structures.

The councillor, in his question, pointed out that he had received several requests from the homeless at the Kalighat shelter for aadhaar cards. The councillor had asked if it was allowed to issue an aadhaar card to such persons.

Reacting to the question, KMC mayor Firhad Hakim said, “This is done by the officials of the election commission. Many times it happens that their names are taken but they do not turn up for a photo shoot. We are exploring options if a camp could be set up for those staying at our shelters,” informed the mayor.

The civic body is mulling approaching the state election commission on the subject. According to Mr Hakim, for the address of the night shelter at Kalighat, the address would be mentioned as that of the shelter. For the footpath dwellers, the address is to be given that of the premise in front of which the people are living.
