Metro conducts train trial run through mishap-prone zone
The first trial run on the Sealdah-Esplanade Metro stretch through the mishap affected west-bound tunnel was conducted successfully today.
Around 20 buildings in Bowbazar will soon be razed to the ground after the Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Limited (KMRCL) identified them to be beyond repair. The figure of buildings needing demolition has been unofficially put at 30. “The foundation plan for re-constructing the buildings is to be done differently,” informed a KMRCL official.
The news of the plan for demolition has added to the agony of their occupants. “If our building is demolished, we do not know when we will be able to get back to our house,” said an evacuee.
