Aparna Sengupta, MLA of Nirsa alleged that this private outsourcing patch has been abandoned since the past six months and neither any fencing has been provided nor the CISF has been guard- ing the area, leading to rampant loot of coal.

It should be noted that only a few days ago, three illegal coal miners were killed when a similar accident took place at ECL’s outsourcing patch in Narayanpuri under Raniganj police station area.

The state government had provided compensation cheques to these three fam- ilies in the Naraynkuri open cast coal mine accident.
The coal mines of eastern Coalfields Limited, with its headquarters located in Sanc- toria near Asansol is spread over the two states of West Bengal and Jharkhand.
The kapsara coal patch is located in the Mugma area of ECL.
Mines rescue officials and other locals have rescued both the bodies, out of which one person is yet to be identified, today. Local people said that during the time of the accident about dozen illegal miners were extracting coal from the abandoned coal patch.
The director general of mine safety will conduct a probe and submit a report soon.
In Churulia of Jamuria, yesterday, 30 illegal coal laden trucks were stranded after the axle of one overloaded vehicle was broken. Locals alleged that the coal mafia escorted these trucks to safety and transported them as hard cokes from several hard coke or gul factories located in Jamuria, Barabani and Salanpur areas.
