The latest season will see the return of two powerhouse directors—Charlotte Brändström and Sanaa Hamri—along with the addition of acclaimed filmmaker Stefan Schwartz. These seasoned directors will each helm multiple episodes, shaping the next chapter of the high-fantasy series that has captivated audiences worldwide.
Since its debut, ‘The Rings of Power’ has amassed over 170 million viewers globally.
According to Vernon Sanders, Head of Television at Amazon MGM Studios, “The journey through Middle-earth continues to enthrall audiences. Season 3 will take fans deeper into the legendary tales that shaped this world.”
Charlotte Brändström, a veteran of the series, steps into a dual role as both executive producer and director. Her impressive resume includes work on ‘The Witcher’ (Netflix), ‘The Man in the High Castle’ (Prime Video), and ‘The Outsider’ (HBO). Brändström played a crucial role in Seasons 1 and 2 of ‘The Rings of Power’ and will bring her expertise back for the third installment.
Sanaa Hamri also returns, following her work in Season 2. A Moroccan-born filmmaker, Hamri is known for directing episodes of ‘The Wheel of Time’ (Prime Video) and the hit drama ‘Empire’ (Fox). Her background in film, TV, and music videos—where she’s collaborated with icons like Rihanna and Jay-Z—brings a unique storytelling perspective to the series.
Joining the team for the first time is Stefan Schwartz, a seasoned director known for his work on ‘The Boys’ (Prime Video), ‘Luther’ (BBC), and ‘The Walking Dead’ (AMC). With experience directing gripping, character-driven narratives, Schwartz is going to add a fresh dynamic to ‘The Rings of Power’.
From the moment it premiered, ‘The Rings of Power’ has been a landmark production for Amazon. Season 1 set records as the biggest TV debut in Prime Video’s history, while Season 2 maintained momentum as the most-watched returning season by hours streamed.
The third season will once again be helmed by showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, with executive producers Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, and Kate Hazell guiding the creative process. Brändström, in addition to directing, takes on an executive producer role.
Other key production figures include Matthew Penry-Davey (producer) and Ally O’Leary, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee (co-producers).
