“I met Priyanka Gandhi in Parliament, and the first thing I told her was, ‘You should watch ‘Emergency’.’ She was very gracious and said, ‘Yeah, maybe.’ So, let’s see if they would want to watch the film,” Kangana shared.
The actress emphasized the sensitivity and dignity with which she has portrayed Indira Gandhi, a figure often discussed for her political decisions and personal life.
“During my research, I noticed a lot of focus on her personal life—her relationships, her friends, and the controversies surrounding her. But I thought, there is so much more to a person,” she said.

Kangana also noted that while Indira Gandhi was undeniably a “product of nepotism,” she approached the portrayal with a fair and unbiased perspective, focusing on the complexity of the former Prime Minister’s character.
‘Emergency’ features a stellar ensemble cast, including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik.
After multiple delays, the film is finally set for release, and expectations are high as Kangana’s portrayal of such a significant chapter in Indian history comes to the big screen.
