Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva on Monday alleged irregularities in the construction of the controversial bungalow at 6 Flag Staff Road, citing findings from a 2022 Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report. He claimed that the project was dubiously declared an “emergency necessity” during its construction.
Addressing a press conference, Sachdeva stated that the CAG report revealed the project’s cost was initially set at Rs 7.91 crore, then raised to Rs 8.62 crore, and later inflated to Rs 33.66 crore without proper justification. He further alleged that the real expenditure on the bungalow remains unknown.

Sachdeva demanded a comprehensive audit, including the inventory created by the Public Works Department (PWD) on October 11, 2024, to determine the true cost of the former Chief Minister’s official residence, which he estimated to be around Rs 75–80 crore.
The BJP leader accused PWD officials of violating rules and laws to construct the extravagant house, dubbed “Sheesh Mahal,” and claimed it was far beyond the category assigned to the former CM.
“The PWD inexplicably declared this project an emergency and issued the work order on September 1, 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 crisis when employment was stalled,” Sachdeva said. He alleged that costs were unjustifiably escalated under the guise of an emergency requirement.
Sachdeva also highlighted concerns raised by the CAG regarding the appointment of project consultants, cost determinations, and subsequent cost hikes.
Additionally, he pointed out that the bungalow was constructed without the approval of the Delhi Urban Arts Commission (DUAC) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, as required by law.
The BJP leader concluded by asserting that the lavish construction of the bungalow was a clear case of corruption, calling for a detailed investigation into the matter.
