The 2024 VMAs emerged as a stomping celebration of the top tracks of the year and saw several beloved musical stars grab big wins.
The evening of September 11 celebrated the best of music at UBS Arena in Elmont, NY. The 2024 Video Music Awards (VMAs) emerged as a stomping celebration of the top tracks of the year and saw several beloved stars of the music industry grab big wins. Expectedly, Taylor Swift grabbed the greatest number of trophies and even broke Beyoncé’s record for the most VMA wins. Moreover, BLACKPINK’s Lisa, Sabrina Carpenter, Eminem, and Chappell Roa took home prestigious awards.
The night was hosted by “Mamushi” hitmaker Megan Thee Stallion and saw several captivating and power-packed performances. Eminem opened the show with a performance that was a nod to his iconic 2000 VMAs appearance. The rapper set the stage on fire with a self-referential rendition of “Houdini” and “Somebody Save Me.” Other notable performances of the night included Sabrina Carpenter delivering a lively performance of her hit tracks. Camilla Cabello, Katy Perry, Chapelle Roan, and several other artists also made the night a memorable one with their performances.

Coming to awards, Taylor Swift made sure that the night was in her name as she grabbed seven awards against 12 nominations. Swift won her fifth Video of the Year award for ‘Fortnight’ ft. Post Malone. She also took home the Artist of the Year and Song of the Summer award. With her impressive wins, she broke Beyoncé’s record for the greatest number of VMA wins. While Queen Bey boasts 26 wins, Taylor now has 30.

Moreover, next on the leaderboard are Eminem, Tyla and Megan Thee Stallion winning two awards each. While Eminem took home Best Hip-hop and Best Visual Effects for “Houdini,” Megan won Best Art Direction for “BOA” and Best Trending Video for “Mamushi.” Tyla clinched the New Artist and Best Afrobeats awards for “Water.” The rest of the winners took home one award each. These include Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, Benson Boone, SZA, Billie Eilish, Carpenter, BLACKPINK’s Lisa and SEVENTEEN, among others.
