Gurdas Maan reveals he paused his film to appear in ‘Veer-Zaara’ after Yash Chopra’s request, sharing fond memories of the iconic song “Aisa Des Hai Mera.”
Punjabi music legend Gurdas Maan recently opened up about his involvement in the iconic Bollywood film ‘Veer-Zaara’. Known for his soulful voice, Maan performed two memorable songs in the film, “Aisa Des Hai Mera” and “Lohri.” But what fans may not know is that Maan’s on-screen appearance in “Aisa Des Hai Mera” wasn’t part of the original plan. In a candid interview, Maan shared how this spontaneous cameo came to life thanks to the insistence of legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra.
Maan recalled that during the filming of ‘Veer-Zaara’, he was also working on his own movie, ‘Des Hoyaa Pardes’, in Chandigarh. Both Maan and Chopra were staying in the same hotel, creating an unexpected opportunity for collaboration. He had already lent his voice to the song “Lohri” and recorded portions of “Aisa Des Hai Mera” when Chopra approached him with a unique idea.
“One day, Yash Ji told me they were about to shoot the song ‘Aisa Des Hai Mera.’ Since I was there and had already recorded parts of the song, he suggested I join in. That was when I decided to pause the shoot of ‘Des Hoyaa Pardes’ and be a part of this beautiful moment,” Maan reminisced. His brief appearance in the film, dancing alongside Shah Rukh Khan, is now an unforgettable part of Bollywood history.
