Varun Dhawan calls out paparazzi for insensitivity while Malaika Arora mourns her father’s death, urging compassion for grieving individuals.
In a heartfelt social media post, actor Varun Dhawan expressed his outrage over the paparazzi’s behavior following the death of Malaika Arora’s father, Anil Mehta.
In his Instagram Stories, Varun condemned the practice of taking photographs of grieving individuals (in this case, Malaika), stating, “It is the most insensitive thing to point cameras in the face of people who are grieving, please.” He urged photographers to reflect on the emotional impact their actions can have on those in mourning, emphasizing that while he understands their profession, compassion should come first. He concluded his message with the hashtag #humanity.
The public mourning for Anil Mehta attracted several celebrities who came to offer their condolences. Earlier on the same day, Kareena Kapoor Khan, accompanied by her husband Saif Ali Khan, was seen visiting the family home to pay her respects. Other stars, including Arjun Kapoor and Ananya Panday, also joined in, with many gathering to support Malaika during this difficult time. The Khan family, including Sohail Khan and his parents, Salim and Salma Khan, were also spotted arriving at the residence.

The circumstances surrounding Anil Mehta’s death are currently under investigation by Mumbai police. Authorities reported that, at first glance, the case appears to be a suicide, though they are exploring all possible angles. DCP Crime Branch Raj Tilak Roshan provided updates to the media, confirming that Anil’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination and that both forensic teams and police are thoroughly investigating the scene. He noted, “The body of one Anil Mehta (62) was found on the 6th floor. We are conducting further investigations, and all angles are being considered in detail.”
Malaika Arora was not at home at the time of her father’s passing; she was in Pune but returned to Mumbai promptly upon learning the tragic news.
