The Haripal Sramajibi Hospital first started rendering medical treatment from 16 April, 2023 with a total capacity of 30 beds. The state started the Swasthya Sathi beneficiary scheme after that. The date 9 September will be remembered as the day when the Swasthya Sathi medical beneficiary scheme was introduced for the first time. The first patient, who availed the benefit was a local labourer Manoranjan Roy, who was suffering from prostate problem. He was detected with low blood count, hence two units of blood transfusion were carried out on him. Manoranjan’s son Biswajit Roy, said, “We are very poor. With a meager income, we cannot meet our ends. My father, who was suffering from prostate problems and was fast losing blood. When the state introduced the Swasthya Sathi card, it came as a great boon to us. On 9th of this month, the Swasthya Sathi card was introduced at Haripal Sramajibi Hospital. My father was the first patient to avail the free cashless medical benefit of the scheme.

The secretary of Haripal Sramajibi Hospital, Sandipan Chatterjee, said, “The introduction of the scheme has made our work easy to fulfil our goal. The rural population is very happy with the introduction of the medical beneficiary scheme. People, who could not get themselves treated for lack of funds, are now getting treatment at Haripal Sramajibi Hospital.”
