The chief minister said the new crop varieties would particularly benefit rice production in Chhattisgarh, enabling farmers to adopt advanced farming techniques and achieve greater prosperity.
The crop varieties, unveiled by PM Modi at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR) in New Delhi, include 34 field crops and 27 horticultural crops. Notably, the new rice varieties require 20% less water, while improved pulse varieties will enhance nutritional security.

CM Sai expressed deep gratitude to PM Modi, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and the scientists involved in developing the new crop varieties. He took to X to share his appreciation and congratulate farmers on this significant development.
This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to boost agricultural production and farmers’ welfare, paving the way for India’s farmers to achieve greater prosperity and contribute to the country’s food security.
