Hours after Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought the Directorate of Enforcement’s (ED’s) response over Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea challenging the probe agency’s summons to the AAP convenor in the liquor policy case, senior AAP leader and Delhi Minister Atishi said the federal agency will now have to answer in the court, which would decide whether the notices sent to Kejriwal are legal or not.

Atishi while speaking to media here said that the central agency sent repeated summons to the Delhi CM, and to challenge whether they were legal or not, Kejriwal has moved the High Court. The federal agency opposed his petition, requesting to dismiss it, but the court has decided to hear the matter, she pointed out.

Reportedly, the court has sought ED’s response on the plea moved by Kejriwal, where he has challenged multiple summons issued to him by the ED in connection with the liquor policy case.

Kejriwal was represented in the High Court by senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi.

The court has fixed the next date of hearing to be April 22 in this matter.

The Delhi CM had moved the High Court after the agency issued to him ninth summons in connection with the liquor policy case, and he was asked to appear before the ED on March 21, to join for questioning.

Kejriwal was also summoned by the ED in another matter related to the alleged irregularities in the Delhi Jal Board, and was asked to appear for questioning on March 18. He skipped this one also.

Meanwhile, the Delhi CM has been granted bail by a Delhi court in a case filed by the federal probe agency for not complying with its summons.

Kejriwal had appeared before the court in person and sought the bail.

The summons by the ED in connection with the liquor policy case have been issued since November last year, and so far a total of 9 notices have been sent to the Delhi CM by the federal probe agency, asking him to join the investigation.

However, the Chief Minister has skipped all the ED summons in this matter, calling them ‘illegal’ and also alleged that the notices were politically motivated.

So far, the ED has filed two complaints against the Delhi CM with a Delhi court for not complying with their notices
