Two held as cops unearth drug cartel in city
Two people including a Nigerian national were arrested for distributing restricted drugs across the nation with the seizure of naro-substance worth Rs 4 crore.
Senior citizens and NGOs including all those present in the meeting shared their important suggestions, grievances and several other measures that could further help in developing a better environment and ensuring safety of senior citizens.
In order to ensure safety and care of the senior citizens of the national capital, a state level meeting of senior police officials, representatives of senior citizen groups, NGOs and nominated senior citizens was chaired by Delhi Police Special Commisioner for Ajay Chaudhary here today. Chaudhary is heading the Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUWAC).
Senior citizens and NGOs including all those present in the meeting shared their important suggestions, grievances and several other measures that could further help in developing a better environment and ensuring safety of senior citizens.
The Special CP in his address in the meeting emphasized that the city police strives to take care and look after vulnerable groups and suggested to take preventive measures when it comes to the concerns of the elderly.

He further suggested and stressed that initiatives regarding cyber crime awareness programmes must be taken up at district level as well since the people belonging to the senior age groups often fall prey to such incidents.
Chaudhry also asserted that programmes related to the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 must be conducted at the district level among senior citizens.
The representatives from various NGOs and associations of senior citizens appreciated several initiatives already being undertaken by the police for their welfare.
They also appreciated the hard work and deep sense of responsibility towards the grievances of senior citizens at local police station level and district level.
The Special Commisioner also asserted and asked the police officials from across districts to ensure that complaints, issues related to the senior citizens must be dealt on a priority basis and with more care.
Meanwhile, there are initiatives that are already in place and the police personnel at all levels in the areas care for the senior citizens, especially those who live by themselves.
