Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati stressed on Friday that Bahujan Samaj has to grab power at the Centre and states to achieve success in social change and economic liberation.
Mayawati after paying tribute to the party’s founder Kanshi Ram on his 90th birth anniversary here on Friday, said that Bahujan Samaj has to continue the struggle against the casteist forces to escape from various conspiracies.

Appealing to the BSP workers to work whole-heartedly to win Lok Sabha elections, she said that it is necessary to sacrifice body, mind and money to get the master key of power.
“It is important for the Bahujan Samaj to remain active in the elections by avoiding the conspiracies, claims and promises of the casteist and pro-capitalist opposition parties, because now it would be suicidal to rely on them,” she said.
BSP supremo said after SC, ST, now the government talks a lot about the interest of OBC community, but the backlog of their reservation was not being filled for years. Due to this, the role of people of Bahujan community in policy making has turned secondary and there was a need for thinking and electoral efforts to change the mindset, she said.
She said in honour of BSP Founder Kanshi Ram, the BSP government created many monuments, places, parks, universities, colleges, hospitals along with new districts, which the opponents never liked. ” As soon as their government was formed, the names of many were changed. The name of Kanshiram Nagar district was changed,” she charged without taking any names.
Meanwhile, on Kashi Ram birth anniversary, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav also paid tribute to the Dalit icon.
Akhilesh Yadav on social media said “On the birth anniversary of respected Shri Kanshiram ji, who struggled throughout his life to provide rights to the Dalits, the deprived and the exploited, we pay our respects and heartfelt tribute.”
On the occasion, Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party founder and former SP leader Swami Prasad Maurya demanded that the government give Kanshi Ram the top civilian honour Bharat Ratna.
