Terming the CAA as anti-constitution and an enactment that makes Muslims second class citizens, Pinarayi Vijayan said it poses a challenge to the idea of India and that the contentious legislation grants legal validity to religious discrimination.
Addressing the media in Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayan said he won’t bend his knees and remain silent in the face of central action. “Congress has been criminally silent on the citizenship issue. What is the national position of the Congress against the CAA? Did Rahul Gandhi, who is doing Nyay Yatra, not know about this,” he asked.

He said Kerala is ready to legally oppose CAA and take further action.“LDF government approached the Supreme Court to confirm that Kerala would not implement the Citizenship Amendment Act. Kerala is the first state to move a plea against CAA in the Supreme Court. The state will initiate further legal action soon,” said CM Vijayan.
