Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday made a slew of announcements like Rs 1 lakh per annum to each woman from poorest families and 50 per cent quota to women in central government jobs under ‘Nari Nyay’ if it is voted to power in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
In a video message, Kharge, who is also the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, announced the five guarantees for women under Nari Nyay in a bid to woo the women voters.

He vowed to implement “Aadhi aabaadi, poora haq” i.e half of all new recruitment to Central Government positions will be reserved for women.
Kharge said under “Shakti ka Samman”, the Centre’s contribution to the monthly pay of ASHA, anganwadi, and mid-day meal workers will be doubled if it comes to power.
The Congress chief said the party would appoint an ‘Adhikaar Maitri’ in every Panchayat to serve as a paralegal to educate women and assist them in the enforcement of their legal rights.
He announced to double the number of working womens’ hostels in the country, with at least one hostel in each district.
Attacking the BJP-led government at the Centre, Kharge said, “In the last 10 years, women did not get anything. Modi government has only increased their problems. They are only doing politics in the name of women and taking votes.”
