All the speculations about the BJP candidate for the Hooghly Lok Sabha seat have come to an end with the announcement of Locket Chatterjee as the BJP candidate for the seat. Soon after the declaration of the name of Locket Chatterjee as the BJP candidate, Ms Chatterjee met the media persons late Saturday evening, expressing her confidence of winning the poll again with a large margin.
On the other hand, Trinamul Congress’s Chinsurah MLA Mr Ashit Mazumdar said Locket Chatterjee was not seen for five years in her constituency and has not done nothing for the people of her constituency. “This time she will face a massive defeat, the BJP will be completely routed from Hooghly district. The BJP MP and MLAs have done nothing good for the common people. They have always tried to creat unrest on communal lines dividing the people and stop the TMC from from going ahead with progress and development work. The people of Bengal will not vote for power hungry BJP,” he said. Ms Chatterjee, speaking to the mediapersons said: “I raised the voice of 18 lakhs voters of Hooghly constituency in Parliament.

I am with them and will be with them in the days ahead. Even though the BJP didn’t fare well in the last Assembly election, the municipal election and the panchayat elections, an intensive introspection was carried on to correct our shortcoming s. At presentwe are strong enough to contest the Lok Sabha election and win.” Locket said: “At present the TMC is passing through a phase of great turmoil within the party fold. The party is divided into different factions. There is lot of discontent among the TMC party workers.
Corruption issues are there in almost all the sectors. Breakdown of law and order, mafia raj, atrocities against women and the Sandeshkhali incident have created a lot of resentment and discontent among the voters against the TMC. The voters are firm in their stand not to bring back TMC back to power.” “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the nation have touched great heights.
Massive progress and development work is going on in the entire nation till today while the state government has deprived the people of all the central government beneficiary schemes and projects,” said Ms Chatterjee. The Hooghly MP added that the BJP aims to bring a industrial revolution in Bengal creating job opportunities for thousands of educated jobless youths.
The TMC has hastened the path of its own end and have paved the path for the BJP to get a thumping victory. The voters are disgusted and frustrated with the misrule of the TMC government and are all set to give a chance to the BJP, said Ms Chatterjee.
