Former Governor of three states and veteran Congress leader Aziz Qureshi passed away at the age of 82 in Bhopal on Friday morning.
Qureshi, who had been ailing for some time, breathed his last at Apollo Hospital here around 10.30 am. Born in Bhopal on 24 April 1941, Qureshi served as the Governor of Uttar Pradesh (additional charge) for one month in 2014, Governor of Uttarakhand from 2012 to 2015, and Governor of Mizoram from January to March 2015.

A close associate of the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Qureshi also represented the Congress as a Lok Sabha member from Satna, Madhya Pradesh, in 1984.
Qureshi was one of the founding members of the Youth Congress and began his political journey after being elected as an MLA from the Sehore assembly constituency in Madhya Pradesh in 1972. He served as a cabinet minister in Madhya Pradesh in 1973 and also contributed as the secretary of the Madhya Pradesh election committee in the past.
