Members of Trinamul Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) and Trinamul Youth Congress (TMYC) conducted a join rally to condemn a statement of Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of Opposition, who had called a Sikh IPS officer a Khalistani, two days ago.
The supporters shouted slogans condemning the incident and demanded an unconditional apology from Mr Adhikari.

Trinamul Congress MP Mala Roy, Debashis Kumar, MLA, Mrs Kajori Bandyopadhyay, councillor took part in the rally along with others. The rally started from Hazra Park and ended at Gurudwara Sant Kutia in Rashbehari.
Similarly, rallies were taken out in Durgapur and Siliguri towns.
Trinamul Chhatra Parishad leaders said Mr Adhikari’s statement is unfortunate and reflects BJP’s divisive politics. They urged people from all walks of life to raise their voice against the BJP leaders.
Meanwhile, members of the Sikh community continued to stage dharna outside the office of state BJP on Muralidhar Sen Lane. The protestors carried placards that read: “We are Indians and not Khalistanis.” They demanded an apology from Mr Adhikari.
It may be recalled that chief minister Mamata Banerjee had condemned the statement while the state police have decided to take stringent legal action into the matter.
