All Bengal Citizens Forum, for the second time, has raised the issue of forced circulation of soiled, tattered currency notes of Rs 10, 20 and Rs 50 for want of fresh currency notes.
The president of the Forum Sailen Parbat said, “A year back, we had demanded to promptly release new currency notes of Rs 10, 20 and 50 but our demand remains unheard till day. Hence, keeping in view the harassment the common people face, we have again drawn the attention of the concerned authorities. It is evident most branches of the nationalized banks and private banks are not getting fresh notes of Rs 10, 20 and Rs 50 from their headquarters, forcing the common people, small traders, toto and auto drivers to manage with highly soiled and tattered notes. Many refuse to accept such soiled notes. It is nearly impossible to carry such soiled and tattered notes in the pocket or wallet. Rs 10 coins cannot be the substitute of currency notes.”

He added, “I have again drawn the attention of the Governor of Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai, towards West Bengal, which is being deprived of fresh notes. We feel at this point, it is incumbent upon the RBI to provide/ supply currency notes of Rs 10 20 and 50 for the common people of Bengal.”
