Lt General Suchindra Kumar takes charge of Army’s Northern Command

A defence spokesman said on Tuesday that Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar, an alumnus of NDA, Khadakwasla, was commissioned into the Assam Regiment in June 1985.

Lt General Suchindra Kumar takes charge of Army’s Northern Command

Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar has assumed the appointment of Northern Army Commander.

A defence spokesman said on Tuesday that Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar, an alumnus of NDA, Khadakwasla, was commissioned into the Assam Regiment in June 1985. He commanded the 59 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion (ASSAM), an Infantry Brigade, and an Infantry Division along the Line of Control.

Kumar commanded the highly active White Knight Corps and has held the positions of Additional Directorate General of Military Intelligence, Directorate General of Military Intelligence, Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy), and Vice Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army before taking over his current appointment.

He has held various staff and instructional positions in Infantry School, Mhow, served as a United Nations Sector Senior Operations Officer in Cambodia, and contributed to the Indian Army Training Team in Lesotho, besides holding roles in the Military Secretary’s Branch and the Brigadier General Staff in the Eastern Theatre.

On assuming the charge, the General Officer greeted all ranks and expressed his commitment to take forward the excellent work of his predecessors and all ranks of Northern Command under the prevailing challenging conditions.
