Trinamul Congress demanded arrest and stringent action against some goons allegedly backed by the BJP, who ransacked a Sahayata Kendra set up at Gokulnagar 6 gram panchayat in Nandigram Block-I, today.

Trinamul Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee wrote on his X handle: “The ZAMINDARS from Delhi and their MINIONS are adamant on keeping the people of Bengal in perpetual deprivation. It’s about time WE teach these ZAMINDARS a lesson for causing 10 YEARS of CONTINUOUS INJUSTICE, PAIN and WITHHOLDING what’s RIGHFULLY ours.”

Trinamul Congress has set up more than 3000 Sahayata Kendra across the state where the deprived job card holders are filling up forms.
Around noon, some youths allegedly backed by the BJP, visited the camp at Gokulnagar 6 gram panchayat. They allegedly ransacked the office and used abusive language to the Trinamul workers manning the camp.
On receiving complaints, the police went to the spot and a manhunt for the miscreants was launched.
Kunal Ghosh, state general secretary of Trinamul Congress said the incident shows that the influence of Mr Adhikari is fast falling in Nandigram. He alleged, “The BJP-led Centre withheld the genuine claim of the workers engaged in 100 days’ work and now they are preventing them from getting the money. People are watching and will teach them a lesson when a suitable opportunity comes.”
