The Trinamul Congress today started eight-day camps in 3343 anchals across the state to assist the deprived job card holders under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme to fill up forms which will be sent to the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for release of their pending wages.

Miss Banerjee had recently announced that the deprived job card holders would be paid from the state government coffers from 1 March. She has also announced the state government would set up houses for the rural poor under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna if the Centre does not release the pending PMAY money within a month. The party workers will assist the deprived job card holders to fill up the forms. Trinamul Congress in its X handle wrote: “ When we make promises, we deliver.

Districts across Bengal have organized Seva Shibir for deprived MGNREEGA workers across Bengal. The workers will receive assistance with the registration process to ensure the smooth distribution of their due wages.” Mr Abhishek Banerjee, the party’s national general secretary, has urged party MLAs to visit the camps twice during the eight-day drive. The MPs will have to visit five camps in their constituency and inform the people about how the Centre has deprived them by not paying their dues.

Party booth presidents today visited the tea stalls and markets and spoke to people about how the Centre has deprived the state and Trinamul Congreess’ role in organising movements to put pressure on the Centre to release the dues. The party leaders will have to send names of four workers from every booth, be it in the urban or rural areas by 29 February. Of the four persons, two are to from Trinamul Congress, one from Trinamul Mahila Congress and one from Trinamul Youth Congress.

Those whose names are to be sent should be below 40 years. The party leaders will also have to send the names of 10 SC and five ST people to the state headquarters of the party. Those names will be of party supporters having acceptability in the areas.

On 1 and 2 March there will be meeting in every anchal under the initiative of the state government where the beneficiaries will be requested to be present. They will have to update their pass books to show that the money has been credited to their accounts
