Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren called on Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge at his residence here on Sunday.

This was his maiden meeting with the Congress chief after he took over as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand following the resignation of Hemant Soren from the post.

Talking to reporters, Soren, who is also the senior leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), said it was a courtesy meeting.

“It was a courtesy meeting with Kharge ji. I came to Delhi for the first time after forming the government,” he said.

In response to a question whether discussion was held on seat-sharing, the Chief Minister categorically said it would be held a second time.

On being asked about reported resentment among few Congress MLAs in Jharkhand, Soren said that is their party’s matter and they will talk.

Reportedly, the disgruntled MLAs of the Congress are in the national capital. They are likely to meet the party’s top leaders.

Meanwhile in a post on X, the Chief Minister wrote, “Today met Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi.”

Along with the post, he also shared a photo of his meeting with Kharge.

Notably, the Congress is part of the JMM-led government in Jharkhand, while the JMM is a constituent of the INDIA bloc also.
