Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday said the Congress government’s second budget is without direction and vision.
Giving his reaction on the state budget, Thakur said that on one hand the Chief Minister was talking about prosperous and developed Himachal, on the other he reduced the capital expenditure.
“If the government does not invest money in the development of infrastructure, then how will the state move forward on the path of development,” he said.
“The Sukhu government could not fulfill the announcements made in last year’s budget. This time too, most of the announcements made in the previous budget have been repeated. The most surprising thing is that the guarantees on which Congress came to power are not even mentioned in this budget. In the second budget also, the government has disappointed the youth of the state, women, farmers and gardeners,” he commented.
He added: “The people of Himachal Pradesh will respond to misleading politics of Congress. After listening to the two and a half hour budget speech, it felt as if the Chief Minister was reciting his old budget speech.”
Describing the budget as disappointing, BJP state unit president Rajiv Bindal said: “The capital expenditure has been reduced to Rs 6280 crore in the financial year 2024-25. In this way, cutting the budget for infrastructure development raises questions on the intentions and understanding of the government.”
