With a view to creating awareness and providing free legal services to victims of deceptive and fraudulent Ayurvedic consultancy, a legal expert in Delhi has launched a nationwide campaign ‘AyurVigilence’.

Spearheaded by Advocate Milan Verma, himself a victim of products of a fraudulent Ayurvedic company, the campaign aims at creating awareness in the general public about the deceptive practices rampant in the name of Ayurveda.

Faced life-threatening situation and hospitalisation due to Ayurvedic drugs manufactured by a Gurugram-based company under the supervision of self-proclaimed Ayurvedic experts; Advocate Verma has taken it upon himself to expose the menace prevalent in the country.

Under ‘AyurVigilence’, a helpline will be established for those who need help and free legal services to be provided to seek redressal.

Recounting his experience, Advocate Verma said he had faced a near-death situation after taking Ayurvedic medicines prescribed by ‘Dr Health’ – a Gurugram-based Ayurvedic Centre and promoter- consultant who did not have qualifications to offer Ayurvedic treatment.

“Following the prescribed medications, I suffered intense pain and loss of consciousness on August 14, 2023, leading to hospitalisation. I was saved by doctors who suspected negligence in earlier treatment and medication,” said Advocate Verma.

The campaign not only aims at ensuring justice but also preventing unassuming people from falling prey to such fraudulent firms.

“The campaign and legal actions taken so far aim to draw public attention to the issue and prompt swift action by law enforcement agencies. All evidence has been submitted to the police and the court to ensure a thorough investigation and bring the accused to justice,” concluded Milan Verma.
