India has registered 157 Covid-19 cases during the past 24 hours, as per data issued by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday.
The total Covid caseload of the country rose to 4,50,26,542 with the detection of the new cases of infections. It also included the JN.1 Covid variant cases.
Of the new cases of infections, Karnataka reported 40, followed by Maharashtra 28 and West Bengal 13.
The national capital reported six new cases.
According to the data, two more people succumbed to the disease, taking the death toll to 5,33,457. Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh reported one death each.
On a positive note, 167 people recovered from the disease during the said period. The recovery tally stood at 4,44,91,589.
The number of active cases in the country stands at 1,496.
