A mid-air small conversation became a new business relationship in the Eastern Railway.
It was on 2 February when a passenger, Akshay Satnaliwala handed over a plea on a simple tissue paper to railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who was also travelling in the same flight from Delhi to Kolkata.
The co-passenger wrote a proposal on the transportation of plastic waste on a tissue paper which was accepted by Mr Vaishnaw. Within six minutes at midnight after de-boarding the flight at Kolkata, Mr Satnaliwala received a call from Eastern Railway’s general manager’s office. The GM of ER, Milind K Deouskar, today held a meeting with Mr Satnaliwala who is the director of a solid waste management company discussing the freight prospect from the organization.
