Rains lashed various parts of Delhi on Thursday as minimum temperature recorded four points above the season’s average at 12.3 degrees Celsius, the weather agency said.

However, with the unpredictable weather, maximum temperature on Thursday pegged at 18.6 degrees Celsius, which was four points below the normal for the season.

The downpour which began on Wednesday made the city’s residents feel the chill with maximum temperature witnessing a drop and pegging below average for the season, while some places witnessed water logging due to the rain.

The untimely rain is likely due to the western disturbances, and according to a seven days forecast by the weather agency generally cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle can be expected on Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, the rain, in a way turned to be a blessing for the city’s residents in context to the air quality index, which has improved by two stages, that is from the very poor category a day ago, the average Air Quality Index on Thursday reeled under the ‘moderate’ category, with an index value of 177, as per the Central Pollution Control Board(CPCB).

For Friday, the weather agency has forecast moderate to dense fog during the morning hours, a partly cloudy sky, while minimum and maximum temperatures to be around 9 and 20 degrees Celsius respectively, the weatherman added.
