Calling the somersault by Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar as most unfortunate, Trinamul Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee said people of Bihar are watching everything and will take the right decision at the right moment.
He was addressing the media after holding the administrative review meeting of the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha seat this evening. Earlier, he inaugurated an auditorium at Amtala. Mr Banerjee said “As Nitish Kumar is almost twice my age I will not speak ill about him. If he thinks that by taking BJP’s support he can push Bihar forward, it is his decision. What I have understood is in electoral politics credibility is everything and the last word is spoken by the people.

They are watching that a person is changing from one party to another in six to seven months. Rest assured, they will take the right decision at the appropriate moment.” Asked about the alliance with Congress in Bengal Mr Banerjee said “In the past seven months just mark what Adhir Chowdhury has said about Trinamul Congress.
This has happened at a time when senior Congress leaders have said that Miss Mamata Banerjee is the most important leader of the INDIA alliance, Mr Chowdhury here goes on criticizing Miss Banerjee. He is the leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha and state PCC chief. He has demanded President’s rule in Bengal. Then whose hand is he strengthening?
He wants to fight against Miss Banerjee,” he said adding, “From June 2023, we have been discussing seat sharing and our chairperson has fixed the latest deadline on 31 December, 2023. Till date Congress has not responded,” he said. Coming down heavily on the Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, he said, “The way has referred to Miss Banerjee calling her first name shows only his poor breeding and lack of any culture.
He has brought down the culture of Midnapore that has produced great leaders like Satish Samanta and others and Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. You may like Mamata Banerjee, you may not like her but you cannot call her by her first name.” Calling the incident at Sandeshkhali, where the ED officials were beaten up by local people, he said, “Such an incident is uncalled for. But it is the BJP that has used the enforcement agencies to heckle and harass the opposition leaders.
ED is not arresting neither Suvendu Adhikari nor Himanta Biswa Sarma against whom they had started investigation. You join the BJP and all your wrong doings are put beneath the carpet,” he questioned. He pointed out that “Mr Adhikari is getting fanned by the ED and CBI and a section of the court and this has given him an impression that he can go ahead with whatever way he likes.”
Supporting Miss Banerjee’s declaration that movement against the Centre will start from 2 February for non-clearance of the dues, he said, “The BJP does not want to clear the dues. Miss Banerjee had met the Prime Minister along with the party MPs and he had assured that the senior officials of both Centre and state would sit to settle the matter.
Nothing has progressed as yet and we cannot wait indefinitely.” Mr Banerjee made it clear that he would follow the instruction of the party and go to the places where his party wanted him to go.
