In a pioneering move, the Nadia district administration orchestrated a career guidance session titled Lakshya, specifically designed for civil service aspirants. The event unfolded at Rabindra Bhawan, where a distinguished panel of IAS, IPS, and WBCS officers, actively engaged in the district, shared their experiences, offering a comprehensive overview of their respective journeys.

The session garnered active participation from hundreds of students representing various colleges, all with a shared aspiration to enter the civil services.

The interactive platform allowed these aspiring individuals to directly engage with seasoned officials, gaining valuable insights and guidance. The inauguration of the event was a solemn affair, with district magistrate Arun Prasad and other dignitaries lighting the ceremonial lamp. In their opening remarks, they elucidated the purpose behind organizing such a distinctive session for civil service aspirants, underscoring the significance of guidance and mentorship in the pursuit of public service.

Two distinguished Bengali civil servants Neha Banerjee, IAS, SDO (Khatra), and Ananya Biswas, WBCS (exe), prob in Hooghly, graced the occasion.

Both luminaries shared their unique journeys, providing invaluable insights into the challenges and triumphs they encountered along the way.

Ms Banerjee, an alumna of IIT Kharagpur, emphasized the importance of two fundamental guidelines for civil service exam preparation, a focused approach to the syllabus and a thorough study of previous years’ questions.

Stressing the need to strengthen the foundational layer, she advised aspirants to delve into the prime content before venturing into the complexities of the civil services examination.

Ms Biswas, in detailing her entire journey from preparation to successfully cracking the civil services examination, offered essential study tips to the aspirants, enriching their understanding of effective preparation strategies.

The interactive session also featured esteemed officers from the district, including K Amarnath, SP, Krishnagar police district; Kumar Sunny Raj, SP, Ranaghat; Pradip Barui, DFO, Nadia-Murshidabad; Ms Sharadwati Chowdhury, SDO, Krishnagar; Raunak Agarwal, SDO, Ranaghat; Anup Dutta, ADM (ZP); Ejaz Ahmed, ADM (G); Ms Shinjin Shekhar, ADM (D), among others.

They provided insightful answers to the myriad questions posed by the aspirants, addressing various aspects of the civil service examinations. Adding an educational dimension to the event, Sayan Sundar Lahiri and Amit Akshay from Rice Education delivered speeches during the career guidance session, further enriching the aspirants’ understanding of the exam and its nuances.
