A major earthquake of magnitude 7.2 on the Richter Scale hit Southern Xinjiang province in China, the National Centre for Seismology said on Monday.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake hit Kyrgyzstan-Xinjiang border region and measured it’s intensity at 7.0 magnitude.
The earthquake struck at 11:39 pm (IST) and tremors were also felt in Delhi-NCR. The the depth of the earthquake was at 80 km.
“Earthquake of Magnitude:7.2, Occurred on 22-01-2024, 23:39:11 IST, Lat: 40.96 & Long: 78.30, Depth: 80 Km ,Location: Southern Xinjiang, China,” the National Centre for Seismology said.
Reports of any damage to properties or loss of life have not yet surfaced.
