Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has seized over 300 tonnes of illegal coal and seized five trucks at Churulia, in Jamuria police station area. The drivers and the helpers of the trucks have managed to escape during the nakabandi.
Three more coal loaded trucks also managed to escape. This is the second such seizure by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) since the seizure of illegal coal loaded dumpers on 19 November from Jamuria. The seizure of such huge quantity of coal has created a stir in the Raniganj coalfields area since all the central agencies, Income Tax, Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are separately conducting investigations and raids on coal mafias since November 2020, arresting a number of coal mafia and ECl officials.
Hare Ram Singh, MLA of Jamuria said that the state government will not allow illegal coal mining in the area and has urged the Asansol Durgapur Police Commissionerate to take steps against this organised coal looting syndicate. “Mafia and police are utilising the opportunity and using the poor people as daily wage earners and highly risky coal miners.
In Jamuria, we will not allow this syndicate raj,” he added. BJP leader Jitendra Tiwari said that his party is always fighting against the illegal coal mafia syndicates operating and active in Raniganj coalfields and after a brief lull, organised illegal coal mining racket has commenced in Jamuria, Raniganj, Pandaveswar, Barabani, Salanpur, Kulti, Faridpur police station areas under Asansol Durgapur Police Commissionerate. The CISF has lodged an FIR against unknown persons at Jamuria police station.
