An Indian Army’s Cheetah helicopter flying an operational sortie crashed near Mandala, west of Bomdila in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday.
The helicopter is reported to have lost contact with the ATC at around 09:15 am. Search parties have been pressed into action to look for both pilots onboard, Lt Col Mahendra Rawat, PRO Defence Guwahati, said.
The two crewmen, a Lieutenant Colonel and a Major are missing after the accident, reported army sources.

Earlier on June 3, 2019, 13 Indian Air Force personnel died when an AN-32 aircraft crashed after taking off from Assam’s Jorhat. After a massive search and rescue operation for eight days, during which assets from several agencies were deployed, the wreckage of the aircraft was located by a Mi-17 chopper and the remains of IAF personnel were retrieved on June 20.
