Amid demands by the BJP for an apology for his remarks on democracy in India during his recent UK visit, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was on Thursday was seen in the Parliament House.
He spent some time in the Central Hall of Parliament House with some of his party colleagues.
When approached by reporters, the former Congress president asserted that he had said nothing against India or Parliament during his London visit. He said he would speak in Parliament if allowed to do so by the Chair.
“If they allow me to speak in Parliament, then I will say what I think,” he said while leaving Parliament.
During an event in the UK, Rahul had alleged that the structures of Indian democracy were under attack and there was a “full-scale assault” on the country’s institutions.
Top ministers and other BJP functionaries have launched broadsides against Rahul, accusing him of speaking against India and the country’s institutions, including Parliament, and demanded an apology from him.
