Severed head found in Golf Green
A severed head was recovered from a garbage pile in Golf Green, causing panic in the area on Friday morning.

The proactive and kind gesture of the city cops acting as good Samaritans helped some of the students give their higher secondary exams on the first day of the exam, yesterday.

The student informed in agony at around 9.50am that he was late for his exam which was scheduled to start at 10am. Realizing the urgency and the agony of the examinee, who would need to cover a distance of 2.2km in 10 minutes, the officials of the city’s traffic department decided to create a green corridor to drop the student on time.

The officials of the Shyambazar Traffic Guard informed their counterparts in Ultadanga Guard as the exam centre fell under their jurisdiction and enabled the student to reach the venue on time. Officer-in-charge of Shyambazar Traffic Guard, inspector Prasenjit Chatterjee, immediately took the responsibility of taking the student to the centre. The student was driven in inspector Chatterjee’s vehicle and reached the exam centre five minutes ahead of schedule. A few kilometers away, sergeant Anupam Chakraborty was on duty in Kankurgachi, near Indrani Memorial Girls School at 9.30am.
While on his rounds, a few parents approached the sergeant that an examinee had forgotten her admit card at home in Shantinagar, Beliaghata. Without wasting any time, sergeant Chakraborty rushed with the student to her house to collect the admit card from her mother and returned to the examination centre before time.
