Peeved by the non-implementation of the scheme, Congress MLAs accused the ruling BJP of insensitivity and indifference towards the state government employees

Accusing the BJP government of insensitivity and indifference towards the state government employees, the opposition Congress on Wednesday staged a walkout in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly against non-implementation of the old pension scheme.
Raising the issue during the budget session in the Assembly, Congress MLA and former minister Sajjan Singh Verma demanded to know from state Finance Minister Jagdish Devda whether the government has received any memorandums and demands from state government employee associations to provide them the benefits of the old pension scheme.
As Devda replied in the negative, the Congress MLA again asked whether the government had received any memorandums from government employees with this demand. However, the finance minister again said that currently there was no proposal with the government to restart the scheme.

Enraged at the finance minister’s replies, Sajjan Singh Verma accused the government of being apathetic towards its own employees.
He alleged that the government ministers keep receiving memorandums from government employees with the demand of restarting the old pension scheme, but they simply throw them in the dustbin.
Congress MLA and former CM Kamal Nath charged the government with accepting money for taking out ‘Vikas Yatras’ but not to pay pension to its employees. He said the government keeps on claiming that there is no dearth of funds, but when it comes to paying pension benefits to employees, it turns a blind eye.
Nath said the Congress strongly condemned the anti-government employee BJP government, and subsequently the opposition MLAs walked out of the house.
