The Yogi Adityanath government has provided jobs to over 1.72 lakh youth through ‘Rozgar Melas’ in its second term, said Labour and Employment Minister Anil Rajbhar said on Friday.
He informed the State Assembly that the Yogi Government has so far held 1536 “Rozgar Melas” during its second term, resulting in the employment of 1,72,291 youths throughout the state.
Additionally, he said, “during its six-year tenure, the Yogi Government has employed about 7.5 lakh youths through employment fairs.”
In response to a question asked by SP member Atul Pradhan, Labour and Employment Minister Rajbhar tabled the details of the last six years.
He said that employment fairs are being organized by the employment offices of the state outside the office premises or at specific locations. In these fairs, there is a provision for participation by the candidates desirous of employment relative to the vacancies notified by the private sector employers.
Each year, there has been a consistent rise in the number of fairs held. In 2017-18, as many as 63,152 youths were provided employment through 633 job fairs, while in 2018-19, 1,03,202 got employment in 685 job fairs.
In 2019-20, 733 job fairs were organised in the state employing about 1,43,304 youths; 1,47,499 jobs were given through 869 job fairs in 2020-21, and in 2021-22, 822 job fairs provided 1,17,430 jobs.
In the second term, that is, till January 31, 2023, 1536 job fairs were organized, in which 1,72,291 jobs were given.
According to the registration number on the Sewamitra portal, till February 13, 2023, the number of skilled workers in the state is 33,913 and the number of service providers is 753. 3839 Sewamitra are also added in this.
In response to another question asked about Prajapati potters, the Labour and Employment Minister said that the Yogi Government of the state is sensitive about their employment.
Meanwhile, responding to a question regarding Home Guards, state Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said that many important works have been done by the state government for the Home Guard Department.
A petition regarding their regularization has been rejected in the Supreme Court, however, the Yogi government has taken important steps for their financial help. Under this, in 2018, their daily allowance was increased from Rs 375 to Rs 500. In 2019, it was further increased by Rs 100 totalling to Rs 600. It is worth mentioning that at present a total of 81,303 Home Guards volunteers are working in the state.
