5 Bangladeshis arrested in Assam for illegal entry
In a significant crackdown, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the apprehension of five Bangladeshi nationals in South Salmara district for allegedly crossing into India illegally.
The Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested the Deputy Jailor, Chitrakoot Jail, in connection with illegal entry of Nikhat Bano, wife of jailed MLA Abbas Ansari, who is the son of Mukhtar Ansari.
The arrested Deputy Jailor Chandrakala was sent to Lucknow jail on Tuesday.
SP Vrinda Shukla said that Chandrakala has been arrested after finding her role suspicious in the investigation. Mobiles and many other things have been found from her possession, which have been included in the investigation.
The SP disclosed that Nikhat Bano, being a woman, was easily contacted by the Deputy Jailer and then her visits to the jail started. It is alleged that in lieu of this, she was given a huge amount and gifts.
The only woman Deputy Jailor posted in Chitrakoot District Jail, Chandrakala is a resident of LDA Colony, Kanpur Road Lucknow. She was posted in Chitrakoot District Jail six months ago. Her responsibility was mainly to check the visitors of the prisoners.
