With the Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing cases of sacrilege and police firing at Kotkapura in 2015, filing chargesheet in the case, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday said the day is not far away when the culprits of this heinous crime will be seen behind the bars.
Addressing a gathering in Fazilka, the CM said that his government is committed to punish the perpetrators of sacrilege incidents in the state. He said justice in these cases is not far away as the challan has already been presented in the court to ensure severest of severe action against the culprits.
The SIT on Friday named former Punjab CM, Parkash Singh Badal, the then home minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini as accused in the challan presented in a Faridkot court.
The 7,000-page challan named senior Badal as an accused for facilitating execution of the conspiracy, while Sukhbir and Saini have been named as masterminds of the conspiracy for illegal and excessive use of force on protesters at Kotkapura to conceal inaction of the state when the protesters assembled to raise their voice against three sacrilege incidents.

Training his guns against Congress and Akali leadership, the CM said they had ruined Punjab for their vested interests. He said that former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has destroyed Akali Dal in love with his son. Likewise, Mann said during his stint as CM, Captain Amarinder Singh never visited these areas even for a single time.

The CM said the culprits of plundering the public exchequer will definitely face the music. He said that these robbers will be made accountable for each and every sin. Mann said that every penny looted by these corrupt leaders or officers will be recovered by all means and utilised for the well being of people.
The CM said within the first few months of the formation of this government, more than 26000 youths have been given appointment letters for government jobs and the entire recruitment has been done purely on the basis of merit and transparency.

Mann said the state government is committed to make the state an industrial hub in the country. He said that the top industrial honchos have decided to invest in Punjab during the recently concluded 5th Edition of Investors Summit.

He said this will create employment opportunities on one hand and put the state on an orbit of high growth trajectory of economic growth on the other.
